Marketplace DTS: Discipleship Training School
Do you sense a calling? – A desire to go, serve, and make a difference with passion and courage?
But are you ready?
* Ready to engage cross-culturally with confidence and sensitivity?
* Ready to communicate well and build healthy, resilient relationships?
* Ready to thrive in teams, handle conflict, and navigate real-world challenges?
* Ready to integrate your faith, values, and convictions into everyday life, work, and leadership?
* Ready to grow in self-awareness, character and maturity, so you can reach your full potential and contribute meaningfully wherever you are called?
If you want to be ready, then this Discipleship Training School (DTS) is for you.
What is DTS?
Our 5-month Discipleship Training School is designed to train, equip, and transform.
We move you beyond passive adaptation or mere survival into a purposeful, values-driven life that brings positive impact wherever you live, work, or serve.
This DTS equips you with:
* Biblical foundations to know God and make Him known
* Practical life skills for communication, cross-cultural engagement, teamwork, and self-regulation
* Character formation to lead with integrity, humility, and courage
This is preparation not only for missions, but for life, leadership, work, and further study in an increasingly complex world.
A Journey of Transformation
You will encounter the One who created you, gain clarity about who you are, and discover how your life fits into God’s story.
This DTS is not just about gaining skills or modifying behaviour.
It’s about lasting inner transformation that shapes your identity, purpose, and vision — and how you show up in relationships, teams, and society.
More than training, this is preparation for a life of impact.
Are you ready?
LIFE, WORK, AND MISSION — INTEGRATED
BUILD FOUNDATIONS FOR LIFE
LECTURE PHASE
The first three months of your DTS take place at YWAM Hurlach Castle in the South of Germany. You will learn from experienced teachers, both local and international. Our teaching intentionally develops spiritual depth, emotional maturity, and professional life skills.
Core Topics include:
1. Identity, Self-Awareness & Personal Growth
Explore belief systems, behaviour patterns, and personality styles to understand how you think, relate, and lead — learning to live grounded in your identity in Christ.
2. Healing, Wholeness & Emotional Health
Learn about trauma, attachment, and relational patterns, and begin a journey toward greater freedom, emotional stability, and healthy relationships through understanding God’s heart.
3. Emotions, Stress Management & Healthy Boundaries
Develop practical tools to manage emotions, prevent burnout, and build sustainable rhythms for life, work, and ministry.
4. Communication & Intercultural Competence
Build confidence and sensitivity in communication across cultures while growing in self-awareness and relational intelligence.
5. Team Dynamics, Leadership & Conflict Management
Learn how to work effectively in teams, navigate conflict, and lead with humility and clarity in diverse environments.
6. Character, Integrity & Impact Skills
Develop character and soft skills that go beyond performance to build trust, influence, and long-term impact.
7. Gifting, Calling & Direction
Identify strengths, clarify calling, and realign your life with the direction God has for you — personally, professionally, and spiritually.
8. Mission, Purpose & Worldview
Explore purpose and worldview across cultures and history, and learn how to integrate faith, values, and meaning into everyday life, work, and society.
9. Hearing God in Everyday Life
Develop sensitivity, discernment, and a relational way of listening to God that informs daily decisions, leadership, and relationships.
10. Foundations of Faith & Spiritual Formation
Explore the Trinity, the work of Christ, and the role of the Holy Spirit — and how faith forms character and shapes everyday life.
11. The Bible as One Unified Story
Discover the big picture of Scripture and how your life fits into God’s unfolding story.
12. Living an Integrated Life
Learn how to build a life that can navigate complexity, change, and uncertainty — growing in wisdom, resilience, and faith for the long term.
Beyond lectures, our approach is deeply relational. Through small groups, community living, hands-on activities, and one-on-one mentoring, you’ll be supported throughout the journey. We believe growth, healing, and transformation happen best in the context of healthy relationships.
PUT YOUR FAITH INTO ACTION
OUTREACH PHASE
Someone once said, “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” We’re here to make sure you’re ready — not just to succeed, but to live out your faith with depth and authenticity.
The second phase of DTS is a two-month outreach, where everything you’ve learned comes alive. You won’t just talk about faith — you’ll live it.
You will travel in teams, engage with people from diverse backgrounds, and step into cross-cultural ministry through both words and actions. You’ll serve alongside local churches, ministries, and long-term missionaries, learning what it looks like to love people well in unfamiliar contexts.
At YWAM Hurlach, our focus region is Germany and Central Europe, from Poland to Bulgaria and the nations in between — one of the least engaged regions of the world by Christian missions, with a deep need for hope, meaning, and authentic faith. Outreach takes place in various teams, partly in German-speaking contexts and partly in another Central European nation.
A YWAM outreach isn’t just an adventure. It’s a launchpad — growth, purpose, and real impact wrapped into one transformative experience.
So… are you ready to step out, go deeper, and be part of something bigger than yourself?
AFTER YOUR DTS
Do a DBS – or prepare for your immigration to Germany!
Following this DTS, you can choose between two options:
Option A: 6-month German language (B1+B2 level) & integration course
This course is designed to prepare you for studying or working in Germany.
If you have completed your high school degree, after this German course most nationalities can apply for an apprenticeship in Germany (e.g. to become a nurse) or apply to study at universities in Germany.
If you already have completed a university or college degree from your home nation, you can most likely apply easily to work in Germany, as Germany lacks yearly an extra half million skilled workers – you just need to have besides your completed degree also the German language passed in B2-level, which this special course offers you.
For this is important that before DTS you already start learning some basic German, so that you have completed German language A2 level before or latest by the end of your DTS to be accepted in our German language & integration course (B1+B2 level). You can start now immediately to learn basic German professionally, e.g. via this FREE and well-made online course: https://learngerman.dw.com/en/learn-german/s-9528
If you are interested in our program, tell us in your DTS application, so we can issue your necessary 1-year visa and also place you already during your DTS in German language learning groups. Costs are monthly the same like in DTS and include: accommodation, food, tuition, and external certified examinations.
Option B: 3-month Discipleship Bible School (DBS)
Or you pick after DTS our 3-month Discipleship Bible School (DBS), in English language. The DBS is an introductory Bible course designed to help you understand the entire Bible, grow in your relationship with God, and learn to apply biblical principles to your life. Besides classes the program involves reading the Bible cover to cover, thematic studies, discussing themes in both large and small groups, as well as 1-on-1 mentoring.
