MARKETPLACE MISSIONS SCHOOL (MMS)

Have you ever wondered what world we would be living in, if sin would have not entered the world – but if instead the unbroken image of God would have multiplied and filled the earth (Gen. 1:26-28), stewarding all that God has created with God-given creativity and fruitfulness? What families and cities would we have created, what societies, cultures and nations?

What did God envision when He then called Abraham and his descendants to become a blessing to all the families of the earth (Gen. 12:1-3; Gal. 3:29)? And what did Jesus envision when He gave us the Great Commission, commanding us to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19) – promising that before He comes back there will be in every nation tangible testimonies of God’s kingdom, a taste of heaven on earth (Matt. 6:9f., 24:14)?

But as we know, sin came into the world, destroying everyone and everything from the inside out – until Jesus came for the restoration of all things“: (Acts 3:19-25)

…Teaching us to pray for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done “on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:9f.)

…Preaching constantly a call to “repent“, meaning to change our thinking and action, “because the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matt. 4:17)

…Instructing us to plant the kingdom of heaven into the nations like a mustard seed: though “the smallest” in the beginning, by its powerful DNA “it will become tall” as a tree, giving nourishment and shelter. (Matt. 13:31f.)

…Promising that “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached as a testimony“, so a witness of real tangible things that are happening through our lives, “to every ethnic people group”, or to all societies, before He comes back. (Matt. 24:14)

…Commissioning us as His followers therefore to “go and make disciples of all nations“, “teaching them to observe all that [God] has commanded” because all authority both in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. (Matt. 28:18-20)

Did you know that the Bible talks as many times about the individual person as it talks about cities and nations, often addressing them like a person?

What if our workplaces, our vocations in all spheres of society, are like classrooms for discipling a nation in its thinking and behavior, creating a good “soil” for the “seed” of the gospel to come into their hearts and minds? Be it as a high school teacher, as a business person, as a journalist, in ‘full-time ministry’ in the church sphere, or in any sphere?
